Colnago C59 Jersey & Racing Bib Shorts

Its always a great feeling when the days start getting warmer and the nights are getting longer. The sunshine has finally arrived in Kent, or as its more commonly know, the garden of England. There is most certainly a good feel factor about it. Its also great to get home from work and go for a lovely summers evening training ride before the sun sets! This, is evening I done exactly that!

At long last, its so nice to put on a short sleeve jersey and bib shorts. It was also a great opportunity to try out my new Colnago summer kit. Consisting of the Colnago C59 Jersey in black and the new Colnago racing bib shorts, also in black. The C59 jersey has a lovely classic feel and cut about it. Again, as with the winter kit, a very simplistic logo smartly tailored onto the left breast area. The jersey material has a silk like feel about it with a technical mesh like material under the arms for moisture wicking and evaporation. The fit is quite exceptional. I am a 40 inch chest and the size Large fits like a glove. In fact, its one of the better fitting jerseys I own. Its nice that Colnago have adopted a ‘real world’ approach when it comes to sizing. Again, no saggy material, just a nice elegant cut which compliments the riders figure. At the back of the jersey, there is a rather nice Colnago logo which runs down the centre of the back. Tastefully done which isn’t over the top. Also at the rear, Colnago have Incorporated more of its technical and highly breathable material, which will certainly add comfort on those long summers day rides. The jersey isn’t wafer thing, but has a good weight about it. Its immediately evident that some thought has gone into the construction of this jersey. Its not just thrown together with a few logos on it for good measure. The jersey also comes with three large pockets at the rear for all those bits and pieces we like to carry with us. Around the waist hem, Colnago have constructed a gripper which firmly holds the jersey in place to the riders body. Folks, I really like this jersey. Not only does it look tasteful, but good quality faberics have been used in the construction. The jersey also features a full length zip, which is most welcome when the going gets hot. To be honest, you don’t need to own a C59 to purchase this jersey. It will work well with all Colnago!

Now, lets have a look at the Colnago racing bib-shorts. Again, these also have a ‘real world’ approach when it comes to sizing. The cut has a racing feel about it with no excess material. The material hugs the riders legs and follows the contours of the leg shape. A nicely positioned discreet Colnago logo on the right hand side. Colnago have also used their technical moisture fabric on the rear to aid evaporation with the Colnago logo running down the back, like the jersey. The material has a ‘stretch’ like feel to it and is very comfortable when riding. The groin area has a reinforced fabric, topped off with a comfortable pad which isn’t to bulky. but again gives the rider enough comfort and support with no numbness. Around the lower leg area, again Colnago have adopted a gripper which holds the shorts nicely in place.
