Folks, hot off the press from Cambiago. The Colnago C59 Firefly – Limited Edition. Only a very small quantity of these frames have been made for the Fireflies. They will be arriving in the UK within the next few days. I think you will agree, the paintwork looks fantastic!  For further information, please contact  firefliescolnago@me.com or +33603281167.

All the profit goes to the Leuka charity for Leukaemia research based at the Hammersmith Hospital in London.

For more information go to – http://www.leuka.org.uk/

The Fireflies ride itself has raised over £1m over this past ten years for leukaemia research by crossing the Alps from Geneva to Cannes.

The Fireflies also now have a sister ride, the Fireflies West, which runs for six days from San Francisco to L.A., a stunning route, which has grown over this past couple of years and a kids event, the “Firefleas” which was in London in the autumn – http://www.thefirefliestour.com/

Italian Extravaganza at Sigma Sport

28 May

There was a real party feel in the air today at Sigma Sport who are based in Kingston-upon-Thames. They are holding an Italian Extravaganza this weekend to celebrate the Giro d’ Italia season. As you walk through the door of their state of the art premises, you are quickly greeted by a young lady with a beaming smile offering you a glass of the finest Italian sparking wine. Great way to kick off the party, a glass of fizz is always most welcome!

Throughout the whole showroom, there was a continues Italian theme present, with the Tricolour flying proudly in store. Also, with Italian coffee and delicious snacks on hand, it really set the scene for a great time. Also, not to mention the live broadcast of the Giro d Italia on their panoramic wide-screen televisions. There was also Italian music being played through the shop speakers and even people singing along to Dean Martin’s ‘That’s Amore’. Great fun!

As well as Colnago on proud display, our friends from Pinarello and Wilier were on hand speaking with customers about their stunning Italian frames. Of course, what makes this event so unique is that the customers could test ride top of the range Italian frames. Not an offer any Italian fan could turn down. Its not everyday you get a chance to ride an M10 back to back with a C59. Ok, we can listen to the chat from any sales guy, but its so refreshing to let the bikes do the talking! The smiles were enough when the customers returned from their test rides. I took the Colnago M10 down which I have had currently on test. The review will be published shortly!

If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit Sigma Sport yet, then you should really make the effort. All I can say is that it’s quite an experience. The range is extensive and the layout and facilities are very impressive. There has been no expense spared in offering the customer the ultimate shopping experience. It has very comfortable surroundings where the customer is allowed to take their time and chat with the experienced staff on Hand. One such staff member is Rohan Dubash who has a complete wealth of experience when it comes to Italian bikes. He has a big soft spot for Colnago and knows these frames extremely well. You could see Rohans touches in the shop with vintage Colnago and Campagnolo items and parts on display. Its not every day you get to see this historical eye candy!

For me, it was lovely just to soak up the whole atmosphere. It was also great to meet fellow Colnago owners and enthusiasts at this event. I was surprised just how many people view Colnago Con Brio on a regular basis. I’m pleased the web site is offering a great service to established and new Colnago owners. It was thrilling to share Colnago stories with a lot of the customers today. Its funny, perhaps like no other, the passion for Colnago really brings people together from all walks of life. Whilst talking to quite a few of you, I met a really nice guy called Paul. He had arrived to pick up his stunning Colnago C59, kitted out with the state of the art Di2 groupset. Funny, I had arrived at the shop quite early that day to have a coffee with Dan the senior mechanic who is quite a legend in these parts. As we were shooting the breeze, he was actually building up Paul’s Colnago C59. Obviously, I took a few photographs! Wow, it was great to see the Di 2 in action. So precise on the gear change, just like clockwork! Looking forward to the new Campagnolo offering which hopefully should be released to the general public late this year. I have got to say, it was fantastic to see Paul greet his new Colnago. There is no greater feeling then being presented with a brand spanking new Colnago, especially after waiting very patiently for its arrival from Cambiago. I asked Paul why he decided to buy a C59? He stated that he wanted a well made frame which was going to perform and be a joy to ride. He also mentioned that after seeing his dream colourway on ColnagoCon Brio, http://colnagoconbrio.posterous.com/colnago-c59-white-traditional-colour-scheme he just couldn’t resist and placed an order with Sigma. I managed to grab a few photos whilst Paul was on the turbo being fitted to his C59 by Rohan.

The Colnago showroom is a site to see. Its one of the finest displays I have seen in any European bike shop. The bikes are beautifully displayed on presentation platforms especially made for the area. This creates a flowing feeling which allows the customer to complete walk around the bikes to fully assess them. There is a stunning Colnago show cabinet ladened with Colnago M10 and C59 frames. The walls are decked out in Colnago black and white clover leaf wallpaper with photographs of Colnago CSF and Team Europcar, formally Team BBox Telecom. There are frames displayed and mounted on podiums which again allows the customer to get up front and personal with these frames. Its a well thought out system, which is very appealing from the customers perspective. There is plenty of space, so you are not getting in each others way when talking and looking at the bikes and frames.

Just in case you are contemplating a C59 or M10 etc, Sigma presently have around 10 frames of each in stock in varying sizes and colours, which certanly cuts out the waiting time!
Once again folks, it was great to meet all you guys during my visit today and to share our love and Passion of Colnago bicycles. It was also nice to welcome new owners to the Clover Leaf who are really enjoying their Colnago bikes. Folks, this show is on all over the weekend including Bank Holiday Monday. If you can, get yourself down there, you won’t regret it! Best wishes.

Folks, I thought it would be nice to revisit this frame once it had been fully built. Well, here it is in it’s full glory! Thanks again to Raymond for supplying some stunning photographs of his beloved EPQ. I must say, the choice components really work with the aesthetics of the frame and colour. Also, with the added touch of Campagnolo Hyperon Ultra Two Wheels, makes this pure eye candy! Well done.

The Colnago M10 has landed !

18 May
2011_tour_du_haut_var_stage1_t
Folks, the Colnago M10 has recently landed. Had my first long ride over the weekend 🙂 As you can see, Windwave ( Colnago UK) have built up the bike using Italian components from FSA. Its lovely to compare the M10 against the C59 and EPS. all are very different within their riding style. I will publish a full report and photographs in a few weeks time. I have received quite a few emails from viewers recently enquiring about the M10 and wanting more information on this frame and how it performs. So…watch this space.

Incidentally, This bike will be available on demo for Colnago fans who attend the Sigma Sport ‘Italian Weekend’ on the 28th & 29th May 2011. Please see the Sigma Sport web site for more information.
